Rt Hon Sir Malcolm Rifkind

MP for Kensington

Tea Dance

TEA DANCE IS TOAST OF THE TOWN  More than 450 older residents from the borough put on their dancing shoes and took to the floor for a Roaring Twenties charity tea dance. The event, which is now in its twentieth year, had music, dancing and a raffle. Held at Kensington Town Hall on the 22 November, dancers were treated to an inspiring performance from Southbank International School students. The Deputy Mayor, Cllr Judith Blakeman, who opened the event along with the Mayoress, Mrs Andrew Dalton, said: “This event gives many of the older and sometimes isolated members of the borough a social occasion to look forward to. Over the years it has proven a great draw, selling out weeks in advance, with this event being no exception.               “Age Concern has a long-standing link with the Council and the work they provide involving their members in activities is fully supported by the Council.” Age Concern teamed up with the Council, Chelsea Pensioners, the local police, local schools and other voluntary organisations to organise the event. To become a volunteer or a member of Age Concern Kensington and Chelsea contact 020 7471 5555.
