Kensington and Chelsea Council is celebrating after being recognised for providing some of the best adult social care services in the country. It was announced today (Thursday 29 November) that the Council has been awarded a maximum three stars by the Commission for Social Care Inspection. The Commission looks at the way councils commission and provide adult social care services, ranging from information and advice through to providing and reviewing care for people. It also judges councils on their capacity to improve in the future. Councillor Fiona Buxton, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care said: “We are committed to providing the best social care possible for everybody in our community. In Kensington and Chelsea, social services touch the lives of many people either through direct contact with them as service users or by offering information, advice and reassurances to their family and friends. "I am delighted that for the seventh year running we have been judged to be one of the best authorities in the country when it comes to our standards of care and services. “Whilst we work within a tightly regulated framework we still manage to develop new and innovative ways to provide social care services. The three stars are an endorsement of the efforts our staff and partners make every day to help and care for so many people. We will continue to build on our hard work, to ensure we improve services for residents of the borough.” The three star rating confirms the Council’s strong performance in delivering good outcomes for people and excellent capacity for continuing to improve social care for residents. It also highlighted how well regarded the Council’s adult social care services are nationally.
